Yeah, this is stock GTK behavior that I have no control over.

Wow, seriously? Most people discourage QSTs on repeaters and especially
gateways, so I'm not sure many people are using this feature much.
Further, I think you (or rather, the repeater users) will suffer from
"split brain" in the case where a QST gets clobbered by another
transmission and then both systems think the other is offline and
suddenly you're getting twice the beacons. You're really screwed if you
have more than one backup machine.
Can you think of a way to do the synchronization so that this won't be a
problem?
Is there anyone else out there who has beacons so important that they
need a backup machine? :)
